Preschools mushrooming!!!
I don't know if we can call it a fad or something, but this
culture of preschool thing has become very common these days. It is like supply
and demand theory being applied as we see numerous preschool facilities
mushrooming in every nook and corner.
Parents research a lot and then shortlist the best preschool for their toddler. Do we actually know what the “so called best schools” are? How is it determined? Does anyone have a checklist? Perhaps “a yes” and perhaps “a no”. It is a very tricky question. I often wondered if the teachers are trained to teach the tiny tots.

The preschools
are set up such as to fulfil the requirement of the schooling for the toddlers
as young as 2 years old. With both the parents working full time and least
reliability on the caregivers at homes, most parents choose to send their kids
to the extended school which are day-care facilities. It is such a boon I must
say. Having said that, I often think to myself if these facilities are perfect
just like our homes.
I have done an
extensive research to know if the kindergarten teachers need a specific
certification to teach these tiny tots. Perhaps, there are courses, but not a
mandatory thing to be able to teach our children of today who will be the
citizens of tomorrow. All they need is a graduation and a little bit of
patience in them to handle the kids. There are schools that actually train the
teachers on a regular as well as need basis to impart the learning to our
children. So, the teaching is taken care of.
One
question that always lingers in my mind is if these schools qualify to be
safe for our children and do they really have any authoritative body to
regulate them. Commercialisation of our Education system is altogether another
topic of concern.
I feel there is a need to bring out a certain structure to set up
a preschool. Right from the people who are caregivers and teachers and the
premises, everything must be verified to be run as a preparatory school. The licenses
to run these schools must be given based on certain parameters which I don’t
think are in place. I seriously feel the need for it.
